A "1, 4, 5" chord progression is a song that consists of 3 chords - the root chord based off the 1st note of the scale, then the 2nd chord based off the 4th note alphabetically, and finally the 3rd chord based off the 5th note alphabetically. Thus, 1, 4, 5.

A "1, 4, 5", in the key of "E" would have an "E" chord, an "A" chord, and a "B" chord
