Power Chord
A power chord is made of two different notes with no major or minor quality to it, and uses the number 5 to indicate a power chord.

The # symbol universally indicates a sharp note. It tells a player to sound a pitch half a tone higher than the written note. For instance, this image indicates the note C#

Palm Muting

Palm muting is a technique where the strings are muted with the palm of the picking hand, producing a muffled sound. The palm is lightly rested on the strings where they meet the bridge.
A quarter note equals one beat. A dot after the quarter note adds ½ beat (½ of the original value). A dotted quarter note equals 1½ beats.

A tie is a curved line that connects two notes of the same pitch. A tie means to hold the note for the combined rhythmic value of the two notes, as if they were one
